HardBeginner #5
Presser
High press and traps
You win the ball high — on purpose, for a stretch, with a plan to drop. Constant press with a high line is how you concede counters.
Need: A midfield that can cover the space you leaveFail: Constant press, high line, no legs, 4-0 at half
Kit: A press trigger you understand · CBs who can run · The humility to turn it off at 60 minutes

Strengths
- • Punishes slow builders and bad first touches
- • Creates the chances the finisher wants
- • Looks like 'script' to people who only lunge
Weaknesses
- • Stamina death and open wings
- • Pressing as six individuals, not a trap
Starter tips
- 1
Learn jockey defending first. A presser who cannot defend a counter is a 5-4 thriller you lose.
- 2
Use team press in bursts, not for 90 minutes.
- 3
If they beat the first press, drop the line. Ego offside traps into a through ball is Champs.
- 4
Career and Kick Off are where you test this, not game 12 of Champs.
