War Thunder Settings and Performance

Settings that matter for War Thunder: stability, audio, and the options that actually change how you play.

Start with stability, not max settings

A hitch in War Thunder is a lost fight, a missed click, or a crash into a wall. Cap FPS to a number you can hold, turn off extra overlays, and use a wired connection for anything competitive.

Setup note 1

Instructor vs full real controls for air. Start with instructor.

Setup note 2

Color-blind tank outlines and a minimap you can read. Information is armor.

Setup note 3

Lower trees and effects if you cannot see a tank in a bush — that is sometimes the point, but play fair with your own FPS.

Accessibility

If motion, color, or audio mix is fighting you, use the in-game accessibility options first. War Thunder is more fun when you can actually parse the screen.
