War Thunder Tips and Tricks

Practical War Thunder habits: the taxes most new players keep paying, and what to do instead.

Habit 1: stop paying this tax

Rushing the enemy spawn in a lone tank. You are ammo. Flip it: Start Arcade to learn lead, then Realistic when spawn and ammo matter.

Habit 2: stop paying this tax

Flying with no ammo belt plan and no awareness of energy. Turn fighting a BnZ plane is a donation. Flip it: Build a lineup at one battle rating. A single top tank with reserve backups is how you get uptiered into misery.

Habit 3: stop paying this tax

Buying a premium that is two BRs above your crew. You will not enjoy it. Flip it: Aim for weak spots, not the armor paint. The protection analysis view is a teacher.

Habit 4: stop paying this tax

Ignoring repair costs in Realistic until the silver lions go negative. Flip it: Crew skill and spare crews matter. A 0-skill crew is a stat stick.

Keep a tiny notes file

Write down one map, one loadout, or one setting that worked. War Thunder players who improve fastest are not the ones with the most tabs open — they are the ones who stop repeating the same wipe.
