Isaac Beginner Guide
A first-week plan for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth: how the loop works, what to do in session one, and the mistakes that waste the most time.
What Isaac actually is
Isaac is a top-down roguelike dungeon crawler. Every run is a new item combination, and most deaths are greed: one more curse room, one more devil deal, one more champion. The loop you will repeat: Clear floors, spend keys and bombs on value, take items that synergize with your tears, then fight the boss before you are out of red health.
Your first session
Unlock the first few characters and the Basement. Do not chase Dead God on day one. Bombs open secret rooms and rocks; keys open treasure and shops. Spend them on info, not boredom. Learn which items are tears-up versus range traps. A pretty costume is not a build. Resetting for a perfect start is optional. Learning to play a bad start is the real skill.
Mistakes that end runs
Taking every devil deal at one heart. Dead is not a synergy. Skipping map rooms then wondering where the boss is. The map is a resource. Fighting champions at half a heart because the drop 'might be good'. Ignoring trinkets. Some are run-defining; some are vendor trash. Read them.
What 'good' looks like after a week
You should be able to explain The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth's core loop in one sentence, recover from a bad session without rage-reinstalling, and know which mode or map is for learning versus for ego. If you are still lost, re-read the first-session steps instead of hopping to a random viral build.
