Habit 1: stop paying this tax
Taking every devil deal at one heart. Dead is not a synergy. Flip it: Unlock the first few characters and the Basement. Do not chase Dead God on day one.
Habit 2: stop paying this tax
Skipping map rooms then wondering where the boss is. The map is a resource. Flip it: Bombs open secret rooms and rocks; keys open treasure and shops. Spend them on info, not boredom.
Habit 3: stop paying this tax
Fighting champions at half a heart because the drop 'might be good'. Flip it: Learn which items are tears-up versus range traps. A pretty costume is not a build.
Habit 4: stop paying this tax
Ignoring trinkets. Some are run-defining; some are vendor trash. Read them. Flip it: Resetting for a perfect start is optional. Learning to play a bad start is the real skill.
Keep a tiny notes file
Write down one map, one loadout, or one setting that worked. Isaac players who improve fastest are not the ones with the most tabs open — they are the ones who stop repeating the same wipe.
