Elden Ring Tips and Tricks
Practical ELDEN RING habits: the taxes most new players keep paying, and what to do instead.
Habit 1: stop paying this tax
Never upgrading the weapon. Smithing stones are the damage stat. Flip it: Pick a class for the weapon fantasy, not a min-max sheet. Vagabond and Samurai are honest.
Habit 2: stop paying this tax
Fat rolling because you wanted the cool armor. Equip load is a mechanic. Flip it: Level Vigor. This is not optional for a first playthrough.
Habit 3: stop paying this tax
Ignoring Torrent's double jump and map fragments. The world is the tutorial. Flip it: Explore south Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula before you stubborn-headbutt Stormveil for three hours.
Habit 4: stop paying this tax
Summoning a helper then standing still. Co-op still needs you to play. Flip it: Use Spirit Ashes if you want. They are in the game on purpose.
Keep a tiny notes file
Write down one map, one loadout, or one setting that worked. Elden Ring players who improve fastest are not the ones with the most tabs open — they are the ones who stop repeating the same wipe.
