HOI4 Settings and Performance
Settings that matter for Hearts of Iron IV: stability, audio, and the options that actually change how you play.
Start with stability, not max settings
A hitch in Hearts of Iron IV is a lost fight, a missed click, or a crash into a wall. Cap FPS to a number you can hold, turn off extra overlays, and use a wired connection for anything competitive.
Setup note 1
Game speed is a skill. Speed 5 is for peace; battles want 1–3.

UI scale and map modes. Supply and intel maps are not optional.
Setup note 3
Mods: Expert AI, road to 56, etc. Vanilla first if you want achievements.
Accessibility
If motion, color, or audio mix is fighting you, use the in-game accessibility options first. HOI4 is more fun when you can actually parse the screen.
