RimWorld Settings and Performance
Settings that matter for RimWorld: stability, audio, and the options that actually change how you play.
Start with stability, not max settings
A hitch in RimWorld is a lost fight, a missed click, or a crash into a wall. Cap FPS to a number you can hold, turn off extra overlays, and use a wired connection for anything competitive.
Setup note 1
Dev mode is a teacher, not only a cheat. Use it to understand events, then turn it off if you want the story.
Setup note 2
Ticks and performance: huge colonies stutter. Keep pawn count sane.
Setup note 3
Ideology/Biotech/Anomaly DLC change the loop. Add them when you want new stories, not on hour one.
Accessibility
If motion, color, or audio mix is fighting you, use the in-game accessibility options first. RimWorld is more fun when you can actually parse the screen.
