TF2 Beginner Guide
A first-week plan for Team Fortress 2: how the loop works, what to do in session one, and the mistakes that waste the most time.
What TF2 actually is
TF2 is Valve's class-based shooter: nine classes, hats, and maps that still teach positioning. A Heavy without a Medic is a slow death; a Scout who never caps is a tourist. The loop you will repeat: Choose a class that fills a hole, push or hold the objective, and spend uber or utility with the team instead of farming DM.
Your first session
Play the tutorial and a few rounds of Payload or King of the Hill. Jump around in mge later. Start Soldier, Pyro, or Engineer if you want readable impact. Spy is not a beginner class. Stand on the cart or the point. Kills off the map do not cap. Call Medic and look at your team. The game is still 12v12 chaos; grouping wins mid.
Mistakes that end runs
All snipers on Defense. Build a nest or push. Wasting full uber on one pyro airblast. Pop it to take space. Teleporters facing the wrong way and no dispenser. Engi is a service job. Ignoring the objective because you are 'practicing rocket jumps' in a pub.
What 'good' looks like after a week
You should be able to explain Team Fortress 2's core loop in one sentence, recover from a bad session without rage-reinstalling, and know which mode or map is for learning versus for ego. If you are still lost, re-read the first-session steps instead of hopping to a random viral build.
