TF2 Settings and Performance

Settings that matter for Team Fortress 2: stability, audio, and the options that actually change how you play.

Start with stability, not max settings

A hitch in Team Fortress 2 is a lost fight, a missed click, or a crash into a wall. Cap FPS to a number you can hold, turn off extra overlays, and use a wired connection for anything competitive.

Setup note 1

Mastercomfig or simple interp settings help on pubs. Do not copy a 6s config if you only play Casual.

Setup note 2

FOV 90, disable unnecessary hats if they hide rockets — competitive players do this for a reason.

Setup note 3

Bind class switches if you fill. Being able to go Engi on last is a skill.

Accessibility

If motion, color, or audio mix is fighting you, use the in-game accessibility options first. TF2 is more fun when you can actually parse the screen.
