Sims 4 Settings and Performance
Settings that matter for The Sims 4: stability, audio, and the options that actually change how you play.
Start with stability, not max settings
A hitch in The Sims 4 is a lost fight, a missed click, or a crash into a wall. Cap FPS to a number you can hold, turn off extra overlays, and use a wired connection for anything competitive.
Setup note 1
Laptop mode and lighting quality if lots hitch. The Gallery is heavier than a starter home.
Setup note 2
Mods folder: `Mods` in Documents. Broken script mods fail after patches — wait a week.
Setup note 3
Backup saves. Cloud vs local has eaten households before.
Accessibility
If motion, color, or audio mix is fighting you, use the in-game accessibility options first. Sims 4 is more fun when you can actually parse the screen.
