WH3 Beginner Guide
A first-week plan for Total War: WARHAMMER III: how the loop works, what to do in session one, and the mistakes that waste the most time.
What WH3 actually is
Warhammer III is a fantasy Total War: turn-based empire building plus real-time battles. Legendary Lords change the campaign rules; supply lines and diplomacy still end sloppy players. The loop you will repeat: Move armies, fight or auto-resolve, occupy or raze, then end turn after you checked diplomacy and growth.
Your first session
Start a recommended first faction (Empire, Cathay, or a simpler DLC-free lord) on Easy/Normal. Fight battles you can learn from. Auto-resolve is a tool, not a lifestyle, on your first campaign. Keep a second army as a defense stack. One doomstack cannot be everywhere. Read unit caps and supply lines. A 20-stack of expensive units can bankrupt a province.
Mistakes that end runs
Chasing a doomed war on two fronts. Peace is a mechanic. Leaving settlements without garrisons because the front 'moved on'. Cav charging straight into spears then blaming the battle AI. Ignoring magic and lords. They are the Warhammer part of Total War.
What 'good' looks like after a week
You should be able to explain Total War: WARHAMMER III's core loop in one sentence, recover from a bad session without rage-reinstalling, and know which mode or map is for learning versus for ego. If you are still lost, re-read the first-session steps instead of hopping to a random viral build.
