BG3 Tips and Tricks
Practical Baldur's Gate 3 habits: the taxes most new players keep paying, and what to do instead.
Habit 1: stop paying this tax
Splitting the party across three loading zones. Turn-based still needs your other characters. Flip it: Play on Explorer or Balanced until you understand advantage, concentration, and surprise.
Habit 2: stop paying this tax
Ignoring camp supplies then starving in Act 2. Pack food. Flip it: Talk to everyone in your camp. Companions are quests, not just DPS.
Habit 3: stop paying this tax
Min-maxing a character you hate playing. A fun Bard will finish the game; a miserable optimized Monk might not. Flip it: Use shove, jump, and high ground. The environment is a class feature.
Habit 4: stop paying this tax
Stealing in front of NPCs then wondering why the whole town is red. Flip it: Long rest often enough to not hoard every spell 'for later'. Later is a TPK with full slots.
Keep a tiny notes file
Write down one map, one loadout, or one setting that worked. BG3 players who improve fastest are not the ones with the most tabs open — they are the ones who stop repeating the same wipe.
