Civ 6 Tips and Tricks
Practical Sid Meier's Civilization VI habits: the taxes most new players keep paying, and what to do instead.
Habit 1: stop paying this tax
Spamming wonders that do not support your win. They are expensive ego. Flip it: Play a game on Settler/Chieftain with a straightforward civ (Rome, Germany, or whatever the tutorial suggests).
Habit 2: stop paying this tax
Letting amenities and housing collapse. Unhappy cities do not science. Flip it: Learn district adjacency. A campus next to mountains is the tutorial.
Habit 3: stop paying this tax
Ignoring eras and civic cards. Policies are free stats. Flip it: Scout early. City-states and second city locations matter more than a turn-20 wonder.
Habit 4: stop paying this tax
Declaring surprise wars you cannot finish, then wondering why everyone hates you. Flip it: Pick a victory type by the medieval era and stop hedging all five.
Keep a tiny notes file
Write down one map, one loadout, or one setting that worked. Civ 6 players who improve fastest are not the ones with the most tabs open — they are the ones who stop repeating the same wipe.
