Free to play, Prime, maps, and why you keep losing aim duels.
Is CS2 free?
Yes. Counter-Strike 2 is free to play on Steam. Prime Status is separate and affects matchmaking quality more than the core gunplay.
What should I play first?
Deathmatch for mechanics, Casual or Premier only after you can buy, plant, and defuse without looking at the UI. Learn Dust II, Mirage, and Inferno first.
Why do I keep losing aim duels?
Counter-strafe before you shoot, keep the crosshair at head height, and stop swinging the same angle twice. Aim trainers do not replace that.
Which maps matter?
Dust II, Mirage, Inferno, Ancient, Nuke, Overpass, Anubis, and Train rotate through competitive pools. Learn three well before expanding.
Do I need Prime?
For cleaner matchmaking, yes if you can. The gunplay is identical. Prime does not teach you smokes.
