Helldivers 2 Beginner Guide
A first-week plan for HELLDIVERS 2: how the loop works, what to do in session one, and the mistakes that waste the most time.
What Helldivers 2 actually is
Helldivers 2 is a third-person co-op shooter against bugs, bots, and squids. Stratagems win missions; friendly fire is always on; extraction is the only score that keeps samples. The loop you will repeat: Drop, complete main objectives, grab samples if you can, call extract, and do not throw an orbital on the pelican.
Your first session
Start on easier difficulties until you can call a resupply and a sentry without looking at the full list. Bring a support weapon that covers your faction: anti-tank for bots, crowd control for bugs. Ping enemies and samples. The map is how squads stay together on big planets. Dive, don't stand. The dive is a mechanic, not an emote.
Mistakes that end runs
Throwing a 500kg on a patrol next to the team. Callouts and throw direction matter. Fighting every patrol. Objectives complete the mission; endless bugs do not. Extracting without samples on a difficulty you chose for farming. That was the point. Standing in the open to reload a recoilless. Use terrain; the map is cover.
What 'good' looks like after a week
You should be able to explain HELLDIVERS 2's core loop in one sentence, recover from a bad session without rage-reinstalling, and know which mode or map is for learning versus for ego. If you are still lost, re-read the first-session steps instead of hopping to a random viral build.
