Step-by-step

Look at the lobby. If there is no Vanguard, you are the Vanguard. If there is one Strategist, you are the second.

Lock a hero you can play at the role, not a throw pick to 'prove a point'.

Check Team-Ups. If your pair is not in the match, do not play as if the bonus button exists.

In spawn, say who you peel and who walks first. Silence is how six people take six off-angles.

If someone instalocks a sixth Duelist, you still fill. Winning the match is the ranked skill.
